#Day trips from Matsuyama

1. Uchiko & Ozu.

The cities of Uchiko and Ozu are great options for those wishing to venture out of Matsuyama for the day. 

  • Journey Duration: Uchiko Station can be reached from Matsuyama in around 25 minutes on the Limited Express Train. From Uchiko, Iyo-Ozu Station lies roughly 10 minutes onwards. 

  • Highlights - JR Uchiko Station: Uchiko Yokaichi Gokoku Preservation District, Kamihaga Residence, Takahashi Residence, Uchiko Town Museum, Uchiko-za, Ikazaki Kite Museum.

2. Imabari.

Another great day trip option is the city of Imabari, not only does is offer plenty to see and do but it can also be reached within in a short amount of time.

  • Journey Duration: Limited Express trains run from Matsuyama to Imabari Station taking around 35 minutes. 

  • Highlights - JR Imabari Station: Imabari-jō Castle, Nankobo, Bekku Oyamazumi Shrine, Imabari Shiminnomori Flower Park, Taisanji Temple.

  • Highlights - JR Iyo-Tomita Station: Kokubunji Temple, Higashimurakaigan Park, Nihonshokkenshokubunka Museum.

  • Highlights - JR Hashihama Station: Chikamiyama Observatory, Kurushimakaikyo SA Observation Deck, Shimanami Photo Spot, Kurushima Strait Observatory. 

  • Bonus Tip: As sights are fairly spaced apart, it is advised to set aside a full day to explore.
