Named a "City of craft & folk art" by UNESCO, the city of Ise is the most visited in Mie Prefecture, with a range of cultural and sightseeing experiences on offer.

Highlights: Okage Yokocho (pictured), Toyouke Daijingu (Ise Jingu Geku, Outer Sanctuary), Kotai Jingu (Ise Jingu Naiku, Inner Sanctuary), Ujibashi Bridge, Shinen Jingu Garden.

Transport: From JR Nagoya, trains run directly to JR Iseshi and take under 2 hours. Alternatively, Kintetsu line trains run between Kintetsu-Nagoya and Iseshi, taking about 1.5 to 2 hours.
Note: For travel between JR Nagoya and JR Iseshi a small supplement is required, which is payable in cash on board the train.
